Spring Pot Support “The Produce Section Environmental Hip Hop Curriculum”

DJ CaveM handing out Spring Pots while teaching youth the value of healthy living at a juice workshop in Denver, CO

The Produce Section provides inner city schools with interactive workshops on urban farming, green jobs development, while funding indoor and outdoor garden programs. The Produce Section is a curriculum developed from a hip hop album and is designed to teach young people the importance of a localized food system, what it means to live in a food desert adn how to sustain themselves in one. Some activities include hands on healthy cooking and juicing demonstrations, film, hip hop yoga, urban gardening, introduction to aquaponics and more. Spring Pots are used as a medium to bring hands on experience to homes that previously have never been exposed to gardening or growing your own food. Since its release in 2012, it has been taught at various schools and has reached and impacted over 6000 youth.
